• Air Force Airman Sarah L. Lavery has graduated with honor from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Lavery is a 2007 graduate of Downers Grove South High School, Downers Grove.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Kazimierz Rojek recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the son of Teresa and Andrzej Rojek of Bensenville. Rojek is a 2007 graduate of Fenton High School, Bensenville.

• John F. Bradley graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

The cadet is a student at Gordon College, Wenham, Mass. Bradley, the son of Scott D. and Marilyn A. Bradley of Lisle, is a 2004 graduate of Timothy Christian High School, Elmhurst.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Rogelio Esparza II recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the son of Leticia and Rogelio Esparza of Aurora and a 2007 graduate of Pine Ridge High School, Chadron, Neb.

• John M. Simkus has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy.

He is the son of Michael and stepson of Laura Simkus of Winfield. His mother and stepfather are Kevin and Judith Arrison of Glen Ellyn.

Simkus is a 2007 graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory, Chicago.

• Zachary F. Bell has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. Bell, the son of Frederick and Karen Bell of Darien, and former ward of Linda Lahey of Downers Grove, is a 2007 graduate of Downers Grove South High School, Downers Grove.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Michael W. Kato recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the son of Donna L. and William Kato of Downers Grove. Kato is a 2007 graduate of Downers Grove South High School, Downers Grove.

• Navy Seaman Jeremy L. Roberts recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the brother of Darlene M. Dewitz of Lisle. Roberts is a 2007 graduate of Guilford High School, Rockford.

• Jacek A. Muka has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. Muka, the son of John M. and Victoria Muka of Itasca, is a 2007 graduate of Lake Park High School, Roselle.

• Army National Guard Spec. Jesse R. Adams is deployed overseas at a forward-operating location in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Operation Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Adams is the son of John and Colette Adams of Wheaton.

• Joel G. Primm has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. He is the son of George and Sandra Primm of Bolingbrook and the grandson of Les and Penny Stone of Downers Grove. Primm is a 2007 graduate of Marquette Manor Baptist Academy, Downers Grove.

• Carly M. Olsowski has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. Olsowski, the daughter of Kenneth and Karen Olsowski of Elgin, is a 2007 graduate of Elgin High School.

• Air Force Airman Nathan D. Oelslager has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Daniel and Virginia Oelslager of West Chicago and a 2006 graduate of Community High School, West Chicago.

• Marine Corps Cpl. Matthew C. Spiess recently received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, which recognizes the service member's honest and faithful service during a three-year period.

Spiess is assigned with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego.

He is the son of Lora J. Spiess of Florence, Mont., and Robert R. Spiess of Winfield. Spiess joined the Marine Corps in August 2004.

• Navy Seaman Recruit George V. Scheuller recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. Scheuller, the son of Sandra J. and George V. Scheuller of Wheaton, is a 2007 graduate of Wheaton North High School, Wheaton.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Kyle M. Regan has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of James Regan of Lisle and Tanya Regan of Naperville. Regan is a 2007 graduate of Naperville Central High School, Naperville.

• Navy Seaman Apprentice Brendan D. Kroeger recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. Kroeger, the son of Kathy M. and Kevin Kroeger of Bensenville, is a 2007 graduate of Fenton High School, Bensenville.

• Erin M. Leavitt graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The cadet is a student at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo. She is the daughter of Jeff S. Leavitt of Villa Park and Ellyn M. Jansen of Kansas City, Mo.

• Elizabeth A. Fields has graduated from the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as Operation Warrior Forge, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

The cadet has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. Fields, the daughter of Richard T. and Ann M. Fields of Downers Grove, is a 2004 graduate of Downers Grove South High School, Downers Grove.

• Army National Guard Pvt. Kevin T. Clayborn has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Regina Clayborn of Addison and a 2005 graduate of Willowbrook High School, Villa Park.

• Air Force Airman 1st Class Peter M. Franaszek has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Jacek Franaszek of Oak Park and Rosemary Rosenberg of Naperville. Franaszek graduated in 2000 from Lake Forest Academy and received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from Ashland University, Ohio.

• Air Force Airman Abel Arriola has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Paz Herrera of Aurora and a 2007 graduate of Aurora West High School, Aurora.

• Air Force Airman Mark C. Chitty has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Mark Chitty of Lombard and Karen Quattlander of Carol Stream. Chitty is a 2007 graduate of Glenbard South High School, Glen Ellyn.

• Navy Seaman Bryan C. Thude recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the son of Debbie and Allen Thude of Itasca and a 2007 graduate of Lake Park High School, Roselle.
