Briefs: Body found near Roselle

Police and rescue crews found the body of a woman Wednesday morning in the Meacham Grove Forest Preserve near Roselle. She is believed to be missing out of Hanover Park, authorities said. It's unclear whether the woman's death was accidental or a suicide. DuPage County Forest Preserve police did not return phone calls Wednesday. Dozens of police and emergency vehicles lined the roadway around the entrance to the preserve along Circle Avenue. Water rescue teams, canine units and firefighters from several communities, including Schaumburg, Bloomingdale and Rolling Meadows, helped with the search.

Glenbard S. class canceled

Classes were canceled today at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn due to a power outage. School officials said a transformer on Butterfield Road broke Wednesday evening, knocking out power to Glenbard South. Doctor charged

An Oakbrook Terrace psychiatrist has been charged with violating the Illinois Medical Practice Act, DuPage County authorities said Wednesday. Yong Soo Ha, 67, continued to treat patients and prescribe medicine despite having his medical license revoked in April 2006 by state regulators, DuPage prosecutors allege. Ha could not be reached for comment. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the state's attorney's office at (630) 407-8000.

CROP walk raises $44,000+

The 23rd annual Glen Ellyn/Wheaton Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty Hunger Walk raised more than $44,000 to fight effects of hunger and poverty. About 400 people from 15 churches participated as walkers, coordinators and volunteers. The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and the DuPage Senior Citizens Council are expected to each receive about $4,000 for their hunger relief programs, and the People's Resource Center and Interfaith Food Pantry will get about $1,400. The remainder of the money will be distributed in up to 80 countries. The walk was held May 6, but officials recently sorted through figures.

CoACH receives donation

Naperville area-based CoACH Care Center, which provides transitional and respite care for medically fragile children, has received a $10,000 grant from Ronald McDonald Charities. The grant makes possible the purchase of barrier-free lifts, a special high-low bed and an adjustable kitchen table. For information on the center, call (630) 271-9155.

New mystery in Wheaton

Author Luisa Buehler will sign copies of her new mystery, "The Lighthouse Keeper: A Beckoning Death," Friday in Wheaton. The book continues the Grace Marsden Mysteries series, which began with "The Rosary Bride: A Cloistered Death." Buehler is a Lisle resident. Special needs fest coming

Itasca Park District will dedicate the new Franzen Play-for-All Park at 12:30 p.m. at today the corner of Catalpa and Bryn Mawr. The new park will feature tennis courts, basketball courts, a shelter, a quarter-mile jogging path, an upgraded softball field, and a new ADA accessible playground, with educational accents for the Franzen School students.
