Visiting Angels of South Elgin win 2017 Business of the Year award

Visiting Angels of South Elgin recently received the 2017 Business of the Year award from the South Elgin Economic Development council.

The South Elgin organization provides leadership in the community by establishing and maintaining an economic development plan. SEED seeks to recognize needs and pursue solutions related to the long-term success of the business community and the Village, and this year Visiting Angels of South Elgin has been recognized.

SEED chairman Marc Falk and council members Kathy Hazelwood and Tim Kolb presented owners, Bill and Arlene Petersen their award at their South Elgin office.

"We are very proud to have Visiting Angels in the South Elgin business community," Falk said. "Visiting Angels fits right in line with the mission of SEED by providing jobs in the community as well as the way they provide care and independence in the life of residents."

Visiting Angels of South Elgin officially opened its doors in 2003. The small business started humbly in the living room of Bill and Arlene Petersen. They purchased the franchise shortly after Arlene experienced a downsizing from her full-time HR job of 19 years. Bill left the automotive industry and together, they have worked and grown the South Elgin office over the years.

"It has been a God story all along the journey," Arlene said. "We are very honored to be recognized as business of the year in South Elgin and we are extremely thankful for the talent that makes us who we are."

"It is always a group effort that includes our office and caregiving team. As we all work together, it is a privilege to serve families as well as be considered a valued business in our area," Arlene said.

The South Elgin office is a trusted provider in the community and also has been recognized with the "Leader in Excellence" award. This award highlights top-performing home care agencies in the nation and Visiting Angels of South Elgin has consistently ranked as the best in home care since 2012. Only three other agencies in the nation have received this recognition. This accomplishment demonstrates the agency's long-term dedication to excellent care and quality improvement.
