Judson embarks on global outreach trips to Peru and Ukraine in May

As the semester draws to a close, Judson University students, staff, alumni and administrators will embark on summer serving trips, beginning May 6. They will travel to Peru and Ukraine.

The Peru group, led by Judson Spiritual Council member Melissa Breyette and Director of University Ministries Chris Lash, will partner with Paz y Esperanza and volunteer with a women's shelter and farm.

The group will help to design a girl's room, clean and work on small construction projects during the morning, and spend time with the children who live in the shelter in the afternoon. The team will return home on Friday, May 18.

The Ukraine group, led by Assistant Director of Admissions/Global Outreach Coordinator Betsy Carr and alumnus Adam Moxness, will travel to Uzhgorod, Ukraine, and work with One Collective. Group members will engage with local university students and host an open mic night and volleyball tournament. They also will have the opportunity to build new relationships with children at a Center for Special Needs. While there, they will teach youth about American sports. The team will return home on Saturday, May 19.

Altogether, Judson has hosted five Global Outreach teams this academic year. Three traveled to Belize, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua in March.

The other two teams will travel to Peru and Ukraine in May, just a couple days after the spring semester ends.

"Each time we send a team to one of our Global Ministry partners, our students come back transformed," Carr said. "They learn and they grow through seeing the Gospel come to life around the globe."

The Judson community solicits prayers of safety for each group. You can support Global Outreach teams financially as well. Visit www.judsonu.edu/go/.
