DuPage Housing Authority Celebrates Diamond Anniversary

After unprecedented recovery, DuPage Housing Authority celebrates Diamond Anniversary

In just 4 short years, the DuPage Housing Authority came from a black hole created by the scandal of being investigated by several Federal and State governmental and law enforcement agencies for the mismanagement, misappropriation or theft of millions of dollars in federal housing funds and a rating of "troubled", to being in 100% compliance with all statutory and regulatory program requirements and a rating of "high-performer" - the top rating a housing authority can achieve. A new Board of Commissioners, new Executive Director and new management team were all instrumental in the re-engineering and re-animation of the agency.

Created on September 28, 1942 under the State Housing Act and the Housing Authorities Act within the Illinois Combined Statutes, DHA is one of: 17 housing authorities in the Chicago - Metro Area, over 100 agencies state-wide and approximately 3,300 agencies nation-wide.

DHA will observe their 75th year on a small scale, with a catered luncheon for 30 staff and 7 Board Commissioners, more as a thank-you for their dedication and service to the more than 3,000 program participants and 1,600 property owners who benefit from their expertise and the rental assistance the program provides. As a part of the celebration, the agency will salute Board Chairman Tom Good who is retiring next month from his law practice and from the Board of Commissioners.
