League to host three candidate forums March 22-23

The League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area will be offering three candidate forums on March 22-23 for the April 4 Consolidated Election.

• A candidate forum for Elgin Township Supervisor, Elgin Township Trustee, and South Elgin Village President will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the South Elgin Lions Club, 500 Fulton St.

Candidates for the following contested races have been invited to participate: Annette M. Miller and Franklin F. Ramirez for Elgin Township Supervisor; Ed Guerra, J. Patrick Hudgens, Jose Alfonso Villalobos, Randy Endean, Robert L. Johnson, Susan Van Weelden, Verner A. Tepe and Vicki Pelock for four seats on the Elgin Township board of trustees; and Lisa G. Guess, Steve Ward and Bill DiFulvio for South Elgin Village President.

The Dundee-Rutland Townships Committee will host two candidate forums on March 22-23.

• On Wednesday, March 22, the forum will feature four candidates for three, 4-year seats on the Gilberts Village Board: Jeanne Allen, Nancy Farrell, Daniel Pace and Guy Zambetti. It will be 7 to 9 p.m. at the village hall, 87 Galligan Road.

• On Thursday, March 23, the forum will feature candidates for Community Unit District 300 and Elgin Community College Unit District 509. It will be 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rakow Senior Center, 665 Barrington Ave. in Carpentersville.

Six candidates are vying for three, 4-year terms on the Community Unit District 300 board: Nicole Beyer, Kathleen Burley, Leslie LaMarca, Mary McNicholas, Anne Miller and David Scarpino.

Five candidates are vying for three, 6-year terms on the Elgin Community College District 509 board: John Duffy, Candace McCreary, Shane Nowak, Jennifer Rakow, and Roger Ramey.
