"Thank you again, it's only possible to send Teddy to camp because of the scholarship," said Union resident Jenny, whose son Teddy had a delightful summer at NISRA's Sunburst day camp.

Send a child with a disability to day camp, support a Special Olympics athlete in training, or help purchase a wheelchair-accessible bus to transport an adult to a fitness program.

The Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association Foundation's 21st annual Holiday Fashion Show benefits these purposes and more. This popular event, with this year's whimsical "Grinch" theme, will be Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Holiday Inn, Route 31 and Three Oaks Road in Crystal Lake.

The festive day features lunch, fashion show, silent and live auctions, raffles and opportunities to win a fully decorated tree with presents and other items.

The doors open at 10:30 a.m., with lunch served at 12:30 p.m. The fashion show begins at 2:15 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each, or $60 for premier seats closer to the runway. Proceeds benefit the NISRA's year-round community recreation programs for local children and adults with disabilities. Call NISRA at (815) 459-0737 by Friday, Nov. 4. Visit www.nisra.org for information or to purchase seats.

Each tree and its theme-related gifts is valued at approximately $2,000. Big Kid Powersports, Spring Grove Sno-Grovers Snowmobile Club, and R.A. Adams Enterprises, Inc. handle the delivery to winners within NISRA's service area. Old World Gem & Jewelry in McHenry is giving a diamond pendant for the jewelry raffle.

Generous sponsors to date include Sage Products LLC; Brake Parts Inc.; Hammortree Financial; Crystal Lake Dermatology; All Kids Dental of Crystal Lake; Ed & Rochelle Donahue; and Aptargroup.

Local retailers providing fashions & jewelry for the show are Alpine Accessories, Funky Monkey, Grassroots, Kathryn's Bridal, Lucky Brand, Lulu's Wiggin Out, Men's Warehouse, Ms. Bossy Boots, Shay, The Clothes Gallery, Tradewinds, Viking Shop, and Wear Did U Get That.
