Painted Door pastor to speak during Judson chapel service

Mark Bergin, lead pastor of The Painted Door Church in Chicago, will speak during Judson University's chapel service at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St. (Route 31) in Elgin. The event is free and open to the public.

Bergin's nondenominational church was established in the city of Chicago in the fall of 2009. A former freelance sports reporter from Seattle, Wash., he admittedly also enjoys another favorite American pastime: eating hot dogs.

The Painted Door Church worships in Wells High School, located at 936 N. Ashland Ave., on Sunday, and in homes throughout the city during the week.

Bergin has a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Washington and a master's degree in Christian Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

He and his wife Acacia have four children.
