The DuPage Community Foundation Celebrates Community Foundation Week November 12-18, 2014
The Foundation will celebrate Community Foundation Week by holding its Annual Benefit Dinner on Saturday, November 15. The annual event will be held at The Hyatt Lodge at McDonald's Campus in Oak Brook. This event is the Foundation's primary fundraiser and is held to celebrate the accomplishments of the organization and the invaluable contributions of our donors and other constituents who support our work. "This has been a banner year for the Foundation," said David McGowan, CFRE, Foundation president. "We are growing in nearly every aspect of our work, which means that we can provide more grants to our partner agencies, which in turn means more for the people of DuPage County."
Community foundations represent one of the fastest-growing forms of philanthropy.
Every state in the United States is home to at least one community foundation-large and small,
urban and rural-that is advancing solutions to a wide range of social issues.
Launched in 1989 through a proclamation by former President George H.W. Bush, the
first Community Foundation Week included a congressional briefing about the work of community foundations throughout America and their collaborative approach to working with the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to address community needs.

The earnings on these funds are then used, in accordance with donor wishes, for the Foundation's grantmaking and community leadership activities.
