A variety of security lighting is available that may deter would-be burglars and predators as night falls earlier. ALSTE Electric is offering free lighting safety assessments the entire month of November.
Statistics show peaks in crime rates at the end of October and early November, which may be associated to Daylight Saving Time, which is Sunday, November 3, 2013. ALSTE Electric recommends evaluating internal and external lighting around the house such as security and safety motion lights, electronic timing controlled lights, and landscape, yard and driveway lighting.
“You want to make sure there is sufficient lighting around your property to feel safe and secure when you are home at night or when family and friends arrive,” says Maureen Edelman, president of Glenview-based ALSTE Electric. “Most people think about exterior lighting for aesthetic effect, but it offers so much more.”
