Remove Clutter from your Home and Recycle at Community Park

Clean out your scary closets, garage, basement and junk drawers for a Community Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, October 26, hosted by State Representative Kathy Willis, Addison Chamber of Commerce and Addison Park District. This drive-thru recycling event is held in Community Park's parking lot, 120 E. Oak Street, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will be onsite to help unload items at each station. A complete list of accepted items – and items not taken – is listed below and online at www.addisonparks.org.

Electronic items to be collected and de-constructed by ACME Recycling include: computers, laptops, printers, monitors, scanners, toners, ink cartridges, servers, terminals, network hubs, cordless and standard mice, keyboards, hard drives, circuit boards; VCR/DVD/CD ROMs, tape players, radios, stereos, docking stations, game consoles, controllers; typewriters; cable boxes/modems; TV's, cables, cords, extension cords; holiday lights; phones/cell phones, fax machines; and small appliances such as hair dryers, toasters and anything with a cord.

Light bulbs such as Compact Fluorescent (CFLs), 2 Shaped Fluorescents (do not tape together) and fluorescent bulbs including T-12, T-5, T-8 (no curly bulbs) will be collected by Addison Park District.

ACME Recycling will be on site for Paper Shredding. Please note there is a 5 box limit per household.

Members of Addison's VFW will be collecting damaged American flags to be recycled.

Members of the Addison Lions Club will be collecting eye-glasses and hearing aids in any condition.

The Addison Fire District will be on site collecting Medical Equipment such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs in any condition.

Volunteers from S.C.A.R.C.E will be collecting all types of crayons and keys including house keys and luggage keys in any condition.

Working Bikes Cooperative will be collecting any working or nonworking bikes & accessories such as helmets, pumps, wheels, child seats, carriers and trailers.

Items not accepted include: Paint, Refrigerators, Household Hazardous Waste, Baby Furniture & Equipment, Gym Shoes, Air Conditioners, Smoke Detectors, Thermostats, Fire Extinguishers, Household Batteries, Furniture, Bowling Balls, Propane Tanks, Scrap Metal and Prescription Drugs.

The Addison Park District is committed to providing the highest quality recreational opportunities and open space for everyone. The 2013 Winter Fun Guide will be delivered to the homes of Addison residents on Friday, November 1st. If you do not receive your copy, please call the Park District administrative office at (630) 233-7275 and provide your home address for delivery. Additionally, the brochure will be available in each facility and online at www.addisonparks.org with a full curriculum of leisure activities for all ages and lifestyles.
