Bloomingdale Parks partners with village for holiday lights festival

The Bloomingdale Park District announced today it is partnering with the Village of Bloomingdale on a new holiday tradition to not only spark a sense of pride and service in Bloomingdale, but also attract visitors from surrounding towns, thus benefiting local business.

Beginning Nov. 29, 2013, the Festival of Lights will adorn Old Town Bloomingdale through New Year's Eve. Pedestrians and motorists alike will be treated to a sparking display of holiday lights and sights.

In addition to visually-stunning displays, the Park District also will conduct on-site programming and entertainment activities sure to delight the masses including:

• Holiday exhibit at the BPD Museum

• Museum to feature extended exhibit hours, including Saturday and Sunday evenings, Dec. 1-22, 6-8 p.m.

• Hot chocolate/cookies to be offered in the Museum during all open exhibit hours and Saturday-Sunday, 6-8 p.m.

• Christmas Card Design Workshop to be held during all Museum open exhibit hours and Saturday-Sunday, 6-8 p.m.

• Tree/Park Lighting Ceremony (Dec. 1, 6-8 p.m.)

o Parent & child ornament workshop prior to the lighting ceremony to decorate the tree.

o Carolers (local groups such as Lake Park HS, churches, scouts, etc.)

• Saturdays (Dec. 7, 14, 21, 6-8 p.m.)

o Horse Drawn Carriage rides

o Live Reindeer

o Ice Sculpture demo (Dec. 7 only)

o Santa visits in the Museum

o Carolers (local groups such as LPHS, churches, scouts etc…)

• Sundays (Dec. 8, 15, 22, 6-8p.m.)

o Santa visits in the Museum

o Carolers (local groups such as LPHS, churches, scouts etc…)

o Mrs. Claus story time

o Holiday Light Scavenger Hunt

o Snow Angel Contest (weather permitting)

The Park District seeks partners/sponsors for this new tradition. It is committed to exceeding its partners' expectations and providing meaningful marketing benefits and impressions.
