ICompete is a collaborative partnership with the Palatine Park District, Palatine Opportunity Center, Palatine High School, District 15, and Buehler YMCA. Each partner provides a unique and integral part in the development, implementation, funding, and support of each program. ICompete programs include the after school club, summer athletic clinics, special events, swim program, teen nights, summer camp, the Pirate Passport program, and more.

The mission of ICompete is to introduce underserved families to athletics, arts, and academics by breaking down the barriers of access to better prepare for life experiences. The goal of the program is to stimulate interest, provide academic support, and increase opportunities to participate in organized sports, clubs or community programs.

According to Cristina Lara, Community Outreach Coordinator at Palatine Park District, "ICompete has touched the lives of over 6,192 people over the last six years." This number includes the children and families that participated in the programs along with the high school volunteers who gave back their time through teaching, tutoring, and mentoring. Reaching out to these families has increased personal involvement and growth in community participation.

Ms. Lara added, "ICompete programs allow participants to develop the skills to make safe choices, get involved in their school and community, and learn how to be competitive in this complex world. Proceeds from the annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser allow us to achieve these goals."
