Waterleaf Restaurant Hosts Rhône Valley Wine Dinner Nov. 14

Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn will host a Rhône Valley wine dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 14, which will feature select wines from France’s distinguished Rhône Valley.

Following a 6:30 p.m. champagne reception, guests will enjoy an artfully prepared Waterleaf four-course prix fixe dinner at 7 p.m. paired with premier selections from the southern region of France’s Rhône Valley.

Menu items and wine pairings include: Prelude – Pan Seared Maine Scallop, Morel Mushrooms and Asparagus Puree (2011 Grand Bois Cotes du Rhone Blanc Viognier); Appetizer – Roasted Monk Fish Tail, Parsley Coulis, Garlic Galette, Parsley Salad, Garlic Chips (2010 St. Joseph Blanc Celeste Chave Selection, Roussanne old vines organic); Entrée – Braised Veal Loin Forestiere, Yellow Creamed Corn, Glazed Vegetables, Musroom Ragoût (2009 Hauts Chassis Crozes Hermitages Les Glets, Syrah, and 2010 Chateauneuf Du Pape Domaíne Grand Veneur, Alaín Jaume, Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre); Dessert – Poached Apple Ring, Cream of Wheat Cake, Candied Apple Ice Cream, Cinnamon Twist Cookie.

Located along the majestic Rhône, the Rhône Valley vineyards have produced some of the world’s best wines. In a climate where the heat of the sun is absorbed into the rocky earth, grapes are allowed to mature to their peak potential, creating rich and aromatic blends.

Waterleaf in Glen Ellyn features a contemporary approach to fine dining led by Executive Chef Jean-Louis Clerc.
