Waterleaf Restaurant Presents 'Cooking With Jean-Louis -- Budget Gourmet'

Waterleaf Restaurant in Glen Ellyn continues a series of hands-on cooking classes on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. with recipes designed to impress your guests while maintaining your budget.

During "Cooking With Jean-Louis -- Budget Gourmet," Waterleaf Executive Chef Jean-Louis Clerc will provide step-by-step instruction for each recipe, including budget-friendly tips for creating exquisite meals. Following the group instruction, participants will enjoy the meal they prepared together at Waterleaf, with specially selected paired wine (21 and over). Participants will also receive take-home gifts that include the printed recipes and a special Waterleaf apron.

The "Budget Gourmet" recipes include Champagne with Campari and Orange Slices; Watermelon, Ricotta Salata, Basil and Pine Nut Salad, Salmon Cakes with Lemon-Thyme Mayonnaise; Moroccan Spiced Chicken Paillard with Mashed Potato and Lemon Oil; and Rustic Pear Tart with Late-Harvest Riesling.

The cooking class cost is $85 per person. Registration is required and places are limited. Call (630) 942-6881 to register.

In addition, the following "Cooking With Jean-Louis" classes are currently open for registration: Nov. 17 -- "Thanksgiving Celebration/Stocks and Sauces" and Dec. 15 -- "Traditional Recipes from France."
