Barrington rolls into sectional semis

Top-seeded Barrington had no trouble advancing to Friday's sectional semifinals as the Broncos rolled past Deerfield 25-11, 25-7 on Wednesday at Waukegan.

Tommy Leonard had 7 kills, and Charlie Spry and Peter van Fossan had 6 each for Barrington.

Taylor Ganzer had 23 assists, Jeff Hochstein served 2 aces and Austin Czarnecki had 12 digs.

The Broncos will host Buffalo Grove in a rematch of the recent Mid-Suburban League championship match at 6:30 p.m. Friday in sectional semifinal play. The subsequent match will feature Stevenson and Zion-Benton.

• Prospect's season came to an end against top seed Glenbrook North, as the Spartans claimed a 25-19, 25-7 victory over the Knights at Chicago Northside.

• Addison Trail outlasted Rolling Meadows 25-22, 22-25, 25-20 to claim the Glenbard North regional title.

Bretty Frey led the Mustangs (16-18) with 26 assists on 71-of-72 setting. Kevin Murphy led the attack with 11 kills and sophomore Tom Sernak had 8. Peter Nickle produced 11 digs, and Frey and Danny Behles both had 9.

• Leyden topped Lincoln Park 23-25, 25-17, 25-20 at Gordon Tech. The Eagles will meet Chicago Payton at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Whitney Young, following the match between the sectional hosts and St. Patrick.
