Parents group wants to discuss hot topics in D300

A parents group from Dundee-Crown High School in Community Unit District 300 is hosting an open forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the school’s Media Center Annex to educate parents, students and community members on a number of hot-button issues affecting the district.

Attendees are invited to bring questions, comments and ideas related to District 300. Information regarding the new high school schedule, labor negotiations and the Sears Economic Development Area will be provided. Panelists will include Superintendent Michael Bregy, Associate Superintendent Ben Churchill and Dundee-Crown Principal Lynn McCarthy.

Dundee-Crown Associate Principal for Curriculum and Instruction Chris Columbaro said the school’s administration works closely with the parents group to provide presentations.

“We take advantage of the opportunity when parents are in the building to disseminate information and educate parents,” Columbaro said.

The Dundee-Crown meeting comes on the eve of an all-district rally planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Jacobs High School in Algonquin to discuss the proposed extension to the Sears Economic Development Area.
