State leaders to host children’s health, safety fair

State Rep. Ed Sullivan and State Sen. Dan Duffy have announced they will co-host a Children’s Health and Safety Fair Saturday, Aug. 27.

The event, which includes a “Touch-A-Truck” area, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon at Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein.

“The school year is approaching fast and it is important that children are reminded how to be safe when traveling to and from school and at their after-school activities,” said Sullivan, a Mundelein Republican.

“It’s also a good opportunity for parents to get a child ID kit to keep on record and see what activities are available in our area.”

More than 30 groups are participating in the Children’s Health and Safety Fair, which includes free admission, refreshments and giveaways.

Children will also have an opportunity to touch more than 17 kinds of trucks, including a fire truck (rides available), police squad car, police motorcycle, prisoner transport van, ambulance, farm tractor, dump truck, bomb squad and more.

“As a father of two children, I understand how important it is to get children involved,” Sullivan said. “This is a fun and informative event for the whole family.”
