Girls soccer / Lake County roundup

Katie Krejsa notched a hat trick, as Stevenson’s girls soccer team defeated Zion-Benton 4-1 in its North Suburban Lake Division opener Tuesday.

Austin Gregorcy also scored — on a penalty kick — for Stevenson (3-2-2).

Grayslake Central 3, CL Central 0: The Rams got their seventh shutout and improved to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the Fox Valley Conference, as keeper Kat Dickson made 4 saves.

Skyler Jessop, Savanah Mudd and Allie Black scored in the second half. Jessop also had an assist.

“We created so many chances and struggled in front of the goal in the first half,” Grayslake Central coach Mike McCaulou said. “We knew we would eventually get one and then relax in front of the goal. It was another good effort by our girls, and I know they expect more of themselves in the final third.”

Vernon Hills 5, Lakes 0: Allison Catch’s unassisted goal in the opening half was all the Cougars needed in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Vernon Hills (2-2-1) received second-half goals from Alex Goldstein, Julie Pecht, Leah Kelly and Heidi VanderBloomer. Kathryn Redig, Clatch and Goldstein had assists.

Antioch 3, Round Lake 0: Abby McIlhany scored twice, and Lauren Tiffany also tallied for the Sequoits in the North Suburban Prairie match.

Mallory Fracek, Danielle Smith and Ashleigh Walpole had assists for Antioch (1-3).

Lake Forest 3, Mundelein 2: Ashley Begrowicz scored both goals for the Mustangs in their North Suburban Lake loss.

Mundelein fell to 5-3-1 and 0-1-1.
