The Land Conservancy offers tree and shrub ID class June 1

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is providing an opportunity to learn about McHenry County's native trees and shrubs at its Tree and Shrub Identification class with Restoration Ecologist Megan Oropeza on Thursday, June 1.

It will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Ryders Woods, 750 Kimball Ave., west of Route 47, in Woodstock.

Attendees will learn how to identify common native trees and shrubs based on their buds, bark and leaves.

The class will begin with basic identification techniques, then participants will study the trees and shrubs at Ryders Woods. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.

The class is $10 per person.
