Tangie's Kitchen in Cary hosts ribbon cutting and grand opening

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Tangie's Kitchen, 3106 Three Oaks Road, Suite. D, in Cary.

Tangie's Kitchen specializes in soul and comfort food, barbecue, and home-cooked favorites.

For owner, Tangie Taylor, the opening of Tangie's Kitchen was inevitable. Raised with humble beginnings on the west side of Chicago, Tangie learned to cook at the side of her grandmother, Lillie Randolph.

"My mom and Granny showed me how to cook from the heart," says Tangie, "Food tastes a lot better that way. My mom was stern on raising us to learn to take care of our future families the way she took care of us, and cooking and good food was a big part of that." Tangie's Kitchen truly is a family owned and operated business. Tangie is joined by her husband, Lee, her mom, Arlene, her children Derrian and Lily, her sisters Sho, Toya, and Dee, and her niece KiKi, all who work and support the restaurant.

Tangie started out catering and cooking for events for friends and family. Her family moved to Fox River Grove in May of 2020. She watched many restaurants struggle during that time and was eager to support local businesses.

When in Cary getting takeout from another local restaurant, she felt drawn to an available space in the shopping center at 3106 Three Oaks Road in Cary. She took the leap of faith, secured the space, and made her dream of opening her own restaurant a reality.

Tangie's Kitchen has an extensive menu offering a variety of soul food and home-cooked favorites like collard greens, smothered pork chops and gravy, catfish dinners, charcoal grilled spareribs and tips, and Chicago style fried chicken.

"My food is unique because we're the only place out here with food from the soul. Being from Chicago, you miss that flavor. I'm hoping to fill that void," Tangie explains, "We run on good vibes. We treat everyone like close friends and family."
