Local robotics team starts off new season strong, with generous sponsorship from entrepreneur

The Golden Ratio, FTC Team #12682 recently announced that entrepreneur Adam Sandow of Material Bank has again decided to assume the position as this year's title sponsor, for the 2022-23 season, Powerplay.

The Golden Ratio is made up of junior high and high school students and mentors local to the area.

This ambitious team, now in their sixth season, aspires to make a top class robot that will carry them to state, and then hopefully Worlds, a highly prestigious competition drawing teams from throughout the entire country.

Using sponsorship funds gifted by Material Bank and others, this determined team will be able to make a robot with top functionality, with the various tools necessitated for success within competitions, as well as maintaining the ability to purchase materials to train students in different areas of STEM and business development.

Jackson Woestman, a third-year member of Golden Ratio Robotics and sophomore at Cary Grove High School, pronounced "This year, we have enormous goals, pushing our team to achieve as much as possible. So, we forced ourselves to think big when considering possible sponsorships this year, looking for companies with a true passion for robotics and education."

Material Bank is an exceptional option, because they use robotics and automation in their own business, leveraging technology to make it possible for interior designers to get hundreds of different brands and material samples, all overnight.

The Golden Ratio will compete in its first season competition at Barrington High School on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m. followed by competitions at Crystal Lake South on Dec. 10, Calvary Church in Crystal Lake on Jan. 14, and League Tournament at Eisenhower Middle School in Rockford on Feb. 4.
