Arts on the Green kicks off July 24 with blues/jazz diva Lynne Jordan

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Raue Center for the Arts presents a new outdoor summer series of music and Shakespeare, "Arts on the Green" at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 210 McHenry Ave. in Crystal Lake.

On select Saturdays starting July 24, enjoy blues, jazz, folk, rock, and Shakespeare on the green grass of St. Mary.

Tickets start at $20 or $8 for ages 18 or younger. RaueNOW member tickets start at $14. For tickets, go to www.rauecenter.org/arts-on-the-green/.

Space is limited at Arts on the Green so order tickets early. Bring a blanket and some refreshments to enjoy as you sit under the trees watching the outdoor entertainment.

Blues and jazz diva Lynne Jordan will kick off Raue Center's new summer outdoor series Arts on the Green.

Listen to her soaring vocals dip effortlessly into blues, jazz, funk, rock. Her talent so dazzled the Second City that the late Chicago film critic Roger Ebert declared her his "favorite diva." Jordan is a Chicago institution, bringing her special brand of storytelling, raw humor, and performance to Chicago, New York, and Atlanta with her sold-out show, "A Musical Tribute to Nina Simone."

Check-in will be located off the main parking lot at the Church Street entrance. Free parking on the street and in the church parking lot is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There are no food or beverage sales at this time but you are welcome to enjoy your own refreshments. Alcohol is permissible for those 21 and over. Please drink responsibly.

No pets are allowed and please do your part to keep the green clean with trash receptacles available throughout the venue for your convenience.

On Saturday, July 31, Arts on the Green will feature award-winning singer/songwriter Derrick Procell singing the blues. You may have heard his songs on "My Name is Earl," "TrueBlood," "Criminal Minds," "Boston Legal," "Saving Grace," "The Office," "True Blood," "King of the Hill," and the Oscar-nominated film, "Lady Bird."

On Aug. 7, classical and blues pioneer Corky Siegel returns to Crystal Lake for "Arts on the Green." The celebrated musician will appear with two-time Grammy winner, jazz legend and tenor saxophonist Ernie Watts.

On Aug. 21, "Arts on the Green" will feature The Petty Kings, a tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, brings you your favorite Tom Petty hits including "American Girl," "Yer So Bad," "Free Fallin'," "Runnin' Down a Dream," and so many more.

On Sept. 4 and 11, it will be Late Summer Night's Shakespeare featuring the cast of Raue Center actors performing selected scenes and monologues in an interactive exploration of language and art.
