There's still time to give the gift of life in 2020

State Rep. Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) is partnering with Vitalant to sponsor a "Season of Giving Virtual Blood Drive" during December.

Rather than a single day event, prospective donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment anytime during December at Vitalant's donation centers in Crystal Lake or Gurnee.

"Coronavirus has caused the cancellation of traditional walk-in blood drives and we are facing a shortage of blood," Weber said. "Through our virtual blood drive with Vitalant, you choose the time that works best for you to donate and it will be set up on an appointment-only basis to ensure a safe environment for all donors.

"Please consider giving the gift of life through blood donation this holiday season."

To ensure the safety of donors, everyone will need to sign up for appointments using a special link: bit.ly/3qqDzpl. Using the link, register online to receive a link to schedule your appointment for the date, time and location that works best for you.

The Crystal Lake Donation Center is at 5150 Northwest Hwy., Crystal Lake.

The Gurnee Donation Center is at 5250-1 Grand Ave., Gurnee.

Face coverings are required for all donors and free antibody testing will also be offered. For more information, including donation center hours, contact Weber's office at (847) 629-5439 or visit RepWeber.com.
