McHenry County College to host St. Patrick's Concert March 12

Get in the St. Patrick's Day spirit with McHenry County College's Irish music and dance concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Luecht Auditorium.

The concert will begin with a round of traditional Irish dances from the McNulty Irish Dancers, a talented group of students from one of the largest, most active dance studios in the Midwest. The school has more than 350 students and 15 locations.

The dancers will be followed by music from Pat Gaughan, LJ Slavin, and Nancy Maio, who will perform traditional Irish ballads, pub songs, and dance tunes.

The trio features Gaughan's rich voice and intricate guitar playing; Slavin's virtuosity on the mandolin, flute, and Irish pennywhistle; and Maio on the fiddle. Together with the McNulty Irish Dancers, these performers are sure to entertain with this warm, memorable homage to Irish heritage.

The concert is free and open to the public. The college is located at 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake. For more information, contact Michael Hillstrom at mhillstrom@mchenry.edu or (815) 479-7814.
