Salvation Army of McHenry County to host multichamber mixer Nov. 19 for Red Kettle campaign

The Salvation Army of McHenry County, one of the largest social service providers, invites all of their community partners to the Red Kettle Kick-off Multi-Chamber & Media Mixer on Tuesday, Nov. 19. It will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at corps headquarters, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave. in Crystal Lake.

The mixer, with food provided by the Texas Roadhouse, is an event for the corporate, organizational and media partners to increase awareness of the programs and services provided to families in need during the holiday season by The Salvation Army of McHenry County.

Major Barbara Owen, Corps Officer, said, "Our media partners are wonderful to work with throughout the year, and are vital to raising awareness of the programs and services we provide to those in need. This mixer is not only about learning more about The Salvation Army, but our way of saying thank you to our media partners."

Funds raised locally, stay local to support youth, adult, and senior programming, as well as emergency services and homeless prevention year-round.

During the holiday season, funding supports a free community Thanksgiving dinner and toys for children in need.

In 2018, The Salvation Army provided over 7,000 gifts to almost 1,000 local children through the Christmas Toyland Shop and Angel Tree program.

Support came from a bell-ringing program that raised almost $200,000 in the red kettles last year due to the generosity of time from volunteers and donations from the community.

Volunteers are needed again this year and can go to www.registertoring.com or call (815) 455-2769 for more information.
