Woodlands Academy has again been named Illinois' top all-girls high school in the latest (2020) report by Niche, an independent research company, which also ranks Woodlands #1 Best Catholic High School in Illinois. The school promotes engaging academics, artistic and athletic excellence, strong faith, and social responsibility.

Located at 760 E. Westleigh Road in Lake Forest, Woodlands Academy is an independent Catholic day-and-boarding college-preparatory high school for young women of all faiths in grades nine through 12.

Graduates of all-girls schools, such as Woodlands, have a definitive edge over their coeducated peers, according to recently released research data. Commissioned by the National Coalition of Girls' Schools, the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) conducted a study that shows statistically significant advantages for girls' school graduates as they enter a college or university. The findings identify several key areas in which all-girls schools are better preparing their students for success in university and beyond.

Woodlands Academy is part of a worldwide network of Sacred Heart Schools that spans the United States and 40 countries around the world. Its students can participate in an exchange program allowing them to spend some time abroad at one of the other Sacred Heart schools in addition to Global Odyssey and Global Scholar programs.
