Sign up for third annual 5K Run Wild Race for Open Space Oct. 5

Sign up with family and friends, ages 5 or older, for the third annual Run Wild - Race for Open Space 5K on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Hickory Grove Highlands, 500 Hickory Nut Grove Lane in Cary.

Connect with your wild self on a run through the wide-open spaces in McHenry County.

This 5K trail run journeys through woodland, prairie and wetland habitats.

Enjoy the colors of fall with stunning views of wildflowers, grasses and towering oak and hickory trees along the wooded trail. This timed event features moderate terrain to provide an exciting and challenging experience for runners of all skill levels.

There will be prizes for the top male and female finishers, finisher medals for each participant, plus a runner's raffle.

Registration is open for all ages 5 or older.

Cost is $35 for adults, or $42 day of event, cash or check only; $20 youth ages 5 to 13.

Race starts at 8:30 a.m. and offers awards for overall and age groups. It includes T-shirt, race bib and race day snacks.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the community by providing funds to provide recreational and educational opportunities for individuals and families to connect with the natural world.
