Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame taking nominations for its 10th class

Nominations for the Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame's Class of 2020 will open Sunday, Sept. 1. Inductions of selected artists are celebrated in the spring of even-numbered years.

Nominations are due by Friday, Nov. 1.

The Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame got its start during a commemoration at the turn of the millennium. Its main objective is to give public recognition to artists associated with the Fox Valley area by birth, education, residence, or service and who have achieved national or international acclaim.

The Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame has inducted and celebrated the lives of numerous inductees over the past 20 years.

The artists honored with induction every other year represent the visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, media arts and educator/curator/benefactor. Each must have served at least 20 years in his or her profession.

This is the 10th class of inaugurating inductees into the Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame. This 10th class will be announced at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

A black tie /formal banquet will occur at 6 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Villa Olivia banquet hall, 1401 W. Lake St. in Bartlett, to officially induct the candidates into the Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame.

That evening the inductees will be awarded plaques, one of which will be hung at Hemmens Cultural Center in Elgin with all the previous Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame inductees from the past 10 years. You can find more information at foxvalleyarts.org.

The second objective of the Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame is to ensure a strong cultural legacy for future generations.

This objective is accomplished through the organizations Founders Series.

The Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame bi-annually sponsors arts programs in the Fox Valley area particularly helping the arts reach children.

The Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame is a sponsor of the Ainsworth Youth Concerts put on by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. This program was a huge success with over 8,000 children from the area attending the program this past spring. The Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame believes that the arts are an important part of a child's education and sponsors programs that can reach the most number of children in Fox Valley area.

The Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame is entirely dependent on donations to fund its work. If you would like to donate, make out a check to the Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame and send it to c/o Treasurer at 960 Commons Road, Naperville IL 60563.

All donations will be recognized in the Fox Valley Arts Hall of Fame programs 2019-2020.
