'Flutter, Buzz and Bounce with BRASS!' at family concert series at Lords Park Zoo July 22

For the past five years, Chamber Music on the Fox has been presenting classical chamber music concerts at venues around downtown Elgin.

This year, the organization has add a new component to their offerings: a free summer concert series geared toward families at the Lords Park Zoo.

On Monday, July 22, Chamber Music on the Fox will present "Flutter, Buzz and Bounce with BRASS!"

Bass trombonist Mark Fry and his brass friends will delight listeners with music selections inspired by bees, sheep, lions, and more.

The final concert on Monday, Aug. 5 features Chicago's Quintet Attacca in a performance of "Peter and the Wolf." Each instrument will present the classic characters of the story with the music of Sergey Prokofiev arranged for wind quintet.

The free concerts begin at noon and are open to all ages.

The zoo is located in Lords Park at 100 Oakwood Blvd. on Elgin's east side.

Bring chairs or blankets and eat lunch while enjoying classical music performances with animal themes.

"We are thrilled to begin our collaboration with Lords Park Zoo this summer," said Kelly Langenberg, education director for Chamber Music on the Fox. "Each of our three concerts are animal-themed, offer a variety of music & instruments, and provide an enjoyable setting for families to enjoy live music, enjoy the farm zoo, and enjoy Elgin."

Founded by Elgin Symphony Orchestra musicians Mark Fry and Sara Sitzer, Chamber Music on the Fox serves Elgin and the greater Fox Valley region with a mission to present engaging, enriching, and immersive performances and cultural experiences that enhance and enrich the cultural offerings of the area.

The Lords Park Zoo series is headed by Chamber Music on the Fox Education Director Kelly Langenberg.
