McHenry Co. Health Dept. to offer diabetes screening

If you have resolved to eat healthier but are having trouble getting started, McHenry County Department of Health is offering a no-cost Diabetes Prevention workshop designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Beginning in July, the 12-month, 22-session workshop helps prevent Type 2 diabetes through behavioral and lifestyle changes that focus on weight loss and increased physical activity.

Learn more about the workshop by signing up for one of four overview sessions scheduled for June 24 or June 26; July 10 or July 15.

On Friday, June 28, McHenry County Department of Health will conduct a no-cost blood sugar screening at Sage YMCA, 701 Manor Road, Crystal Lake. McHenry County residents can stop in between 8:30 a.m. and noon for a free blood glucose check and information on diabetes prevention and management.
