Guest Artists of the CSO and Rochester Phil Join MYAC at End of Season Concerts

Midwest Young Artists Conservatory will complete its 26th season with several events including Orchestra concerts, Choral and Jazz concerts, a special "Music At The Fort" concert with the Pro Musica Wind Quintet (Musicians of the CSO), and the North Shore Jazz and Classical Music Fest: an all ages community event held on the MYAC Center grounds.

On Sunday April 28 at Pick Staiger Concert Hall at Northwestern University (50 Arts Circle Dr. Evanston, IL), MYAC orchestras perform beginning at 1:30 p.m. Guest soloist Maura McCune Corvington, Associate Principal Horn with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and an MYAC alumna, will perform Strauss' Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major with MYAC's Symphony Orchestra at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, May 5, three events will take place at Bennett Gordon Hall at Ravinia (201 St. Johns Ave. Highland Park, IL):

MYAC Choral Groups led by Mary Lewis and Stevi Marks will perform beginning at 1 p.m.

At 3:45 p.m., MYAC chamber music groups heading to the finals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in mid May will present a FREE recital open to the public. No tickets are required for this chamber music concert.

And starting at 6 p.m., MYAC Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and Jazz Workshop students perform led by Neil Carson, Ashley Summers, and Ryan Adamsons.

Tickets to the Pick Staiger Orchestra concerts, and Choral and Jazz concerts at Bennett Gordon Hall may be purchased online at https://mya.org/events/tickets or at the concerts on the day of.

On Saturday May 18, the Grammy award winning Pro Musica wind quintet (CSO Musicians Jennifer Gunn, flute, Michael Henoch, oboe, John Bruce Yeh, clarinet, Oto Carrillo, horn, and William Buchman, bassoon) perform at the"Music At The Fort" series at 7 p.m. at The MYAC Center at 878 Lyster Rd. in Highwood, IL. Wine, beverages, and light snacks will be served. $5 suggested donation at the door. *Note: In the event of a contract resolution between the musicians of the CSO and the CSOA, this concert will be cancelled.

Sunday May 19, join MYAC for the "North Shore Jazz & Classical Music Festival" at the MYAC Center at 878 Lyster Rd. in Highwood, IL. Food, fun, and musical performances will be served up all day from noon to 5 p.m. All ages are welcome. Food and activity wristbands will be available for purchase. This event will be held outdoors, weather permitting, or indoors in the event of rain.

MYAC's classical, jazz, and choral programs serve students from grade school beginners through advanced pre-collegiate performers.
