Plan winter adventures with McHenry County Conservation District

McHenry County Conservation District winter programs brochure has arrived. The winter program offerings are loaded with both indoor and outdoor nature enthusiast adventures.

Explore a "History House: After Dark," take a "Solstice Night Hike" or compete against other teams in "Winter's Minute-to-Win-It."

Go on "A Very Chilly Chili Crawl" or spend "An Afternoon with the Short-eared Owls."

Visit a "Site Seldom Seen in Greenwood" or grab your friends for an evening "Paint and Sip: Capture a Live Turtle on Canvas." Come out for a "Full Moon Pizza Party," take part in a "Winter Scavenger Hunt" or grab your PJs for a " Nature at Night Pajama Party."

There is something for everyone. Most programs are free. Visit the conservation district's website at www.MCCDistrict.org to view the programs in greater detail or sign up to receive the seasonal magazine Landscapes.

Registration opened for county residents on Nov. 10. Nonresident registration opened Nov. 20 and is accepted online, by phone for free programs only at (815) 479-5779, by mail and drop-off at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, or drop-off only at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.
