North Shore Pro-Active Health hosts summer detox class

LIBERTYVILLE - Better sleep. Heightened clarity. Fewer aches and pains.

These are just a few of the benefits those taking an upcoming detox class in Libertyville may experience if they act on what they learn, said Dr. Jade Dellinger, who along with her sister, Dr. Jordan Leasure, will lead the class at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at North Shore Pro-Active Health, 112 Lake St., Libertyville. The sibling chiropractors offer the class a couple of times a year.

"The liver can't continue to work at the rate it should when it's too busy trying to process out alcohol and other toxins," Dellinger said. Fatigue, mood swings, stalled weight loss, digestive issues and skin disorders including acne, rosacea and eczema can occur when the liver is overworked.

"Food, being around electronics, the environment and stressors all can build up toxins," Dellinger said. "Doing a detox once a year is good. Twice a year is even better."

Cleanse kits including natural products will be available at the class - and also are available at the office - for $186.81. It is not necessary to buy a kit to attend the free class. Nor is it necessary to attend the class to purchase a kit, but it is recommended.

"It's important to know how the lifestyle choices you make affect your body functions and how you can improve the way you're feeling by making some tweaks to those lifestyle choices," Dellinger said. "In the class, we'll run through in a little more depth what toxins are, how we're exposed to them and what detoxing is doing for your body."

The take-home kits get folks going on a gentle but efficient six-day liver detox. Those purchasing a kit also receive a customized plan based on goals, concerns and sensitivities.

"It's not a colon cleanse, and it's not extremely limiting as far as diet goes," Dellinger added. "You do have to give up some things to detox your system and cleanse your body, but this is not just juices and shakes. You will be eating whole foods."

The free class is open to the public and typically lasts one hour, depending on questions. Space is limited and RSVPs are requested. To reserve a spot, go to the Summer Detox event on the North Shore Pro-Active Health Facebook page or find Summer Detox Class at Eventbrite.com. For other information, call 847-362-4476.
