MCC to host Career Exploration Showcase April 4

Middle schoolers through high school sophomores and their families can explore career options or learn about career possibilities they didn't even know existed at the 2018 Community Career Exploration Showcase from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in the McHenry County College gym and commons area, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

The event is free and open to the public. Students can find out about what careers to pursue, learn about new career choices that interest them and the education options available.

Demonstrations by local businesses and MCC educational programs will highlight a variety of industries. Students can hear from a variety of professionals and what they do on their jobs in manufacturing, robotics, health care, marketing and graphic design, emergency response, and many more fields. A special "Career Cruising Corner" will help students connect their passions to a career.

In addition, the MCC Kids and College program will host a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Zone and will also highlight summer programs for middle and high schoolers.

MCC educational divisions will highlight such industries as manufacturing and engineering/robotics, culinary and hospitality, health professions, public services, horticulture, the arts, and business. Select tours of labs may be available.

In addition, students and families can find out the Dual-Credit programs for high school students. The event is hosted by McHenry County College, in partnership with all McHenry County School Districts, the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation and the Workforce Network Board.
