MCC to host woodwinds concert March 11

McHenry County College will feature the woodwind quintet Winds Off the Lake during the popular Second Sunday Concert on March 11, in the Luecht Conference Center, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake. It will be held at noon, instead of the usual 3 p.m. start

Winds Off the Lake is returning to MCC for its 22nd Second Sunday concert featuring the unique sounds of flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon. Music will feature works by Beethoven, Mozart, Lehar, Rimsky-Korsakov, a "Fiddler on the Roof" medley and a new arrangement by Lori Sutherland of themes from the Winona Ryder remake of Little Women.

Featured musicians are: Sue Childress on flute, Korrin Bird on oboe, Lori Sutherland on clarinet, Randy Sundell on bassoon and Russ Henning on horn.

Winds Off the Lake has performed at many venues, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Millennial Park, cable television, and regularly plays for church cantatas, weddings and private functions.
