McHenry County Animal Control to host blood drive Tuesday

McHenry County Animal Control in Crystal Lake will be the host a blood drive Tuesday, July 18, with LifeSource.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the McHenry County Department of Health Animal Control facility, 100 N. Virginia St., Crystal Lake.

Appointments for this blood drive can be made by contacting LifeSource at (877) 543-3768 or online at and clicking "make an appointment," then searching sponsor code "463D."

Walk-ins are welcome. Participating donors will receive a McDonald's gift card. LifeSource has 18 community donor centers conveniently located throughout Chicago.

In support of people and pets being prepared, Lost Dogs of Illinois will be creating and donating pet tags during the drive.

According to Maryellen Howell, manager of veterinary public health at the McHenry County Health Department, "We stress families be prepared for any given situation. This includes pets."
