Countryside Flower Shop hosts ribbon-cutting for cut flower garden

On Friday, July 8, the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the Crystal Lake, Barrington Area, and the Huntley Area chambers of commerce, co-hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Katherine and Bill Hameder Cut Garden at Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery, & Garden Center, 5301 E. Terra Cotta Ave. in Crystal Lake.

Countryside Flower Shop has been part of the community for over 61 years. The current owners, Johannes Pieterse (JP) and Brent Troost, purchased Countryside in fall of 2020. The Cut Garden is their most recent expansion, taking advantage of the abundance of growing area their 28-acre property in Crystal Lake presents.

Named for the original owners, Katherine and Bill Hameder, the Cut Garden gives the customer the ability to have the freshest flowers possible by selecting and cutting their own stems in the garden.

"We are excited to continue the legacy of growing and providing quality plants and services to the community," says owner Brent Troost. "The Cut Garden is a perfect extension of the Countryside feeling our customers get when they know they have the best and freshest flowers available."

The Cut Garden is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For a list of what is growing in the garden each week, visit www.countrysideflowershop.com/about/cut-garden/.

In addition to the Cut Garden, Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery, and Garden Center offers flowers and plants for all occasions, a full-service gift and floral shop, an extensive variety of flowers, plants and garden essentials, seminars, and many resources to assist their customers with their gardening needs.
