Lake in the Hills Rotary Club awards $23,000 in grants to nonprofits

The Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills recently announced that they have awarded $23,000 in grants to local nonprofits.

The club awards grants each year to local nonprofits with some of the proceeds from the Lake in the Hills Rockin' Rotary Ribfest held in July.

The criteria for the grants center around programs that help improve the quality of life for Lake in the Hills and McHenry County most vulnerable residents.

The Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills, one of the more than 34,000 worldwide Rotary clubs, has supported community nonprofit organizations through fundraising and subsequent grants for the past 12 years.

The grants are broken down to three categories: major support, impact and team grants.

This year's recipients are:

• Major Support Award of $2,500 to Kids in Need-McHenry, Sandy's Stockings, Senior Care Volunteer Network, and Big Brothers Big Sisters

• Impact Award of $3,000 to Veterans Path to Hope, Northern Illinois Food Bank, and Algonquin-based Community Unit District 300 Food Pantry

• Team Support Award of $5,000 to Turning Point and Care Center (Northwest CASA).

All of these organizations can always use help in donations or volunteers.
