Contest winner to enjoy Mystery Machine campout
The Volo Museum is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the "Scooby-Doo" movie that featured Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini with the "Scooby-Doo" 20th anniversary contest.
The winning fan will score an overnight stay for two in the Volo Museum's pristine Mystery Machine parked at a premium shoreline spot at Fish Lake Beach, plus two combo passes to the museum and Jurassic Gardens.
Those interested should complete the entry form at volofun.com before noon Friday, July 8. On the website, choose "Enter the Museum," then click on the "Enter to Win" pop-up. No purchase is necessary; must be at least 21 to enter. The winner will be announced July 8 and must be available to use the prize overnight from Saturday, July 16, to Sunday, July 17.
"This is going to be a blast," said Jim Wojdyla, marketing director at the Volo Museum, 27582 Volo Village Road in Volo. "Who wouldn't want to win a night in the Mystery Machine?"
With the combo passes, the winner and his or her guest can spend the day before and after their resort stay exploring all of the museum's exhibits, as well as its indoor, animatronic dinosaur park.
The pair will enjoy a short commute to and from their powder blue, flaming orange and lime green digs. Fish Lake Beach Camping Resort is less than a mile northeast of the museum.
"We're open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.," Wojdyla said. "That leaves plenty of evening hours to enjoy all that Fish Lake has to offer. There's fishing, a heated family pool and a hot tub. They have an off-leash dog park, basketball and volleyball courts, plus canoe, kayak, pedal boat and paddle board rentals."
Add to that some Mystery Machine details Shaggy himself would approve, like a Scooby-Doo bedding-clad air mattress; Scooby snacks; Scooby Doo Monopoly, Clue, Jenga, Mad Libs, Escape Room Game, activity book, playing cards; and delivery of a Buddyz pizza fresh from the museum's Showtime Pizzeria, which now features McHenry pies.
"We'll make it fun," Wojdyla said. "That's what Volo Museum is all about."
From classic and iconic Hollywood cars to a fully restored 1928 carousel and Disney displays, the museum features something for everyone.
