Advocate Sherman Hospital accepting mural submissions

In conjunction with Elgin's Side Street Studio Arts, Advocate Sherman Hospital's Diversity Council is accepting design submissions for a canvas mural that welcomes and invites patients and their families to the hospital and promotes the concepts of diversity and inclusion.

The mural must incorporate in some way the hospital's five values of equality, compassion, stewardship, partnership, and excellence.

"The mural will serve as a warm welcome to our diverse community of patients, visitors, associates and physicians," said Paola Velasquez, chairwoman of the Diversity Council and manager of communications and translation services. "We are seeking an artist or group who can express our values in a visually engaging way."

This call is open to all local artists and artist teams in the Fox Valley area. The selected artist will receive a $1,000 stipend. For criteria and eligibility, visit bit.ly/1ODZdMo. Submissions must be received by Thursday, June 30, either online by visiting www.sidestreetstudioarts.org or emailing sidestreetstudioarts@gmail.com.

For more information or questions, contact Paola Velasquez at (224) 783-2398.
