CLC offers May info sessions for HVAC and mechatronics technician programs

Two in-demand, hands-on service technology fields - HVAC and mechatronics - will be the subject of career information sessions being offered by College of Lake County faculty on May 19 and 20.

The Mechatronics information session will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 in Room D209. The HVAC Engineering Technology information session will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20 in Conference Room T117. Both rooms are on the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St. Faculty members will cover the field, the job outlook and components of CLC's certificate and degree programs.

Mechatronics technicians are qualified to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair automated, "intelligent" machinery used in manufacturing. CLC's mechatronics certificate helps students train for these high-tech jobs in a certificate program that can be completed in one year.

Recent CLC mechatronics graduates have found employment with companies such as Amazon, Witron, Precision Resources, TriCore, Chicago Boiler and International Precision Components Corporation, according to LaMar Black, career programs coordinator.

CLC's HVAC Engineering Technology program consists of three A.A.S. degrees and seven certificate programs. In a new 18-credit, flexible Fast Track-HVAC Installation Technician Certificate, students can complete the certificate in just 16 weeks. Some coursework is completed online; hands-on learning components tasks and demonstrations are completed in the HVAC labs on campus. Completion of the program prepares students for entry-level HVAC/R installation technician positions. There is still time to register for Summer Session and Fall Semester 2016. Summer classes begin June 6, and fall classes begin Aug. 22. View the 2016 class schedule and search for courses at www.clcillinois.edu/summer and www.clcillinois.edu/fall.
