Senior Care Volunteer Network thanks local DaVita Dialysis locations

On behalf of the Senior Care Volunteer Network board of directors, office team, volunteers and the seniors we serve, we wanted to extend a sincere thank you to everyone at the Carpentersville, Crystal Lake and Lake Barrington DaVita Dialysis locations for their generous donations of $1,000 from each office.

DaVita - which is Italian for "giving life" - has more than 46,000 employees around the nation working to provide superior patient care and exemplify the company's core values. Since DaVita began in 1999, they have developed many programs to enrich lives. They realized that the goodwill they have generated has also spread to more than 2,000 local communities around the nation. Community Care - the annual report outlining the DaVita vision for social responsibility - defines the organization's "declaration of interdependence" and philosophy on the role corporations should play in America. DaVita is a community first, and a company second.

Senior Care Volunteer Network (formerly Faith in Action) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and our mission is to preserve the independence, dignity and quality of life for all seniors, age 60 or older, who live at home or with a loved one in McHenry County or Sun City. Dedicated volunteers help achieve its mission by providing a number of services, all at absolutely no charge to the seniors or their family members. The services include but are not limited to: transportation to medical and life-enriching destinations, friendly visits and phone calls, minor home repairs, seasonal yard work, respite relief for family caregivers and medical equipment loans.

The primary service they provide is transportation and many of these requests are for medical and dialysis appointments. Eighty-eight cents of every dollar received is used to fund direct program expenses to the benefit of the seniors in the community.

The donations from DaVita Dialysis will go a long way and help provide services to many seniors in need.

For information about these services or on how you can volunteer an hour of your time and make a real difference, call Senior Care Volunteer Network at (815) 455-3120 or visit www.scvnmchenrycounty.org.
