Endorsement: Reboletti over Franzen in 45th House District

In the race for the 45th House District, Elmhurst Republican Dennis Reboletti, an attorney and former city councilman, is seeking his fourth two-year term. This time it’s not the 46th District but a redrawn 45th, putting him in unfamiliar territory in western DuPage County. He faces JoAnn Franzen, a home healthcare provider who lives near Roselle. The two candidates are more similar than you’d expect. Reboletti voted for gambling expansion; Franzen said she views gambling as any other business and wouldn’t stand in its way, though she says casinos shouldn’t be allowed to have ATMs. Both favor a conceal/carry law. In terms of offering business incentives, Reboletti stresses standardizing the process, while Franzen says any incentive should have a sunset. All things being equal, Reboletti, the House GOP floor leader, has shown a willingness to work across the aisle, something Franzen can only claim she’d do. For his track record, Reboletti is endorsed. The redrawn district includes portions of Bartlett, Bensenville, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Itasca, Medinah, Roselle, West Chicago and Wood Dale.
