Waterleaf Restaurant hosts Cakebread Cellars Wine Dinner Aug. 22
Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn will host a Cakebread Cellars wine dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 22, which will feature select wines from this distinguished Napa Valley winery, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Following a 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception, guests will enjoy an artfully prepared Waterleaf four-course prix fixe dinner at 7 p.m. paired with selections from Cakebread Cellars' current collection.
Menu items and wine pairings include: Prelude – Lobster with Picked Mushroom, Sweet and Sour Dressing, Kaikon Radish, Chive, Ginger Salt (2010 Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay, Napa Valley, Calif.); Appetizer – Scallops with Candied Eggplant, Eggplant Crisp, Spicy Homemade Chorizo and Black Olive Pepperade (2009 Cakebread Cellar Pino Noir, Napa Valley, Calif.); Entrée – Beef Tenderloin, Roasted and Miso Glazed with Smoked Potato Puree, Roasted Lemon, Garlic and Artichokes in a Red Wine Reduction (2009 Cakebread Cellars Merlot, Napa Valley, Calif., and 2008 Cakebread Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Calif.); Dessert – Candied Orange and Anise Star Jelly, Mango Sorbet, Orange Powder.
Founded in 1972, Cakebread Cellars has grown from a small 22-acre vineyard in Rutherford to a thriving internationally distributed wine company with acreage throughout the Napa Valley region. The family-owned winery currently includes 13 sites totaling 982 acres, 460 of which are currently planted. This judicious acquisition and development of vineyard land over the past 39 years has enabled Cakebread Cellars to substantially control the quality of the fruit and wine it produces.
