Harper sweeps COD

Just 24 hours after hosting Concordia University, the Harper women's volleyball team was back on the court Wednesday night against College Of Dupage (9-27) in regional quarterfinal play. The Hawks came away with a sweep of the Chaparrals 25-14, 25-16, 25-17.

The Hawks next travel to Madison Area Technical College for an 11 a.m. regional semifinal game agaisnt MATC. If the Hawks win, they'd play against the Rock Valley winner on Saturday.

Hawks head coach Bob Vilsoet made some changes to his lineup, moving libero Megan Maize to the outside hitter position, while moving Jordan Bodine to Maize's former spot.

With Harper up 13-9 in the first set, COD took a time out to slow the Hawks' momentum. After a Chaparrals timeout, Emily Brown was able to bring COD closer, but the Hawks ended up pulling away eventually.

In the second set, the Hawks ran out to a quick 7-3 lead before play mosty went back and forth. But COD was able to fight back, keeping the lead within 2 points.

The serving of libero Jordann Bodine was able to help the Hawks extend the lead to 17-10 as the new Hawks front row of Maize and Mason was able to help the Hawks control the net.

"We feed off of each other," Mason said of her chemistry with Maize.
