Marian to present 'Wizard of Oz'
The community is invited to follow the Yellow Brick Road this year to the special production of the classic musical, "The Wizard of Oz "for Marian Central Catholic High School's 50th anniversary.
Performance dates are 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 20 and 27, and Saturdays, Feb. 21 and 28, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.
Written by L. Frank Baum, "The Wizard of Oz" includes memorable songs by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg such as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "If I Only Had a Brain" and "King of the Forest."
Join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, and Toto, too, on their journey to ask the Wizard for a brain, a heart, courage and even a way home. Although the Wicked Witch of the West, her flying monkeys - and a variety of other characters - are determined to stop them, Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, and the munchkins are there to lead Dorothy and her new friends "out of the woods."
"Wicked" may have left Chicago, but this is your chance to experience the magic of Dorothy and friends at Marian. Reserved tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 2 after 9 a.m. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Call Marian's office after 9 a.m. at (815) 338-4220, ext. 100.
