Easy Homemade Tacos

1 1/4-1 1/2 pounds ground chuck1 medium onion, chopped 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper2-3 teaspoons Mexican chili powder1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce2 tablespoons water 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes1 tablespoon oilCorn or flour tortillasOptional toppingsShredded lettuceGrated cheddarSalsaMinced onionChopped tomatoSour creamSliced radishesIn a skillet over medium-high heat, brown meat with onion, salt, pepper and chili powder. Drain off fat.To skillet, stir in tomato sauce and water, sprinkle with crushed red pepper and stir; cover and simmer 15-30 minutes.In the meantime, heat 1 tablespoon oil in pan. Fry tortillas 30 seconds per side. Drain on paper towels and fold in half while hot. Serve with optional toppings and fresh fruit.Serves four to six.Cook's note: Leftover filling may be frozen for another meal.Nutrition values per serving (before toppings added): 214 calories, 6 g fat (2 g saturated), 21 g carbohydrates, 2 g fiber, 19 g protein, 45 mg cholesterol, 412 mg sodium.
