Central tops North in Grayslake battle
Grayslake Central 56, Grayslake North 29: Grayslake Central earned bragging rights for winning the crosstown classic in convincing fashion. The Rams had three players score in double-figures, paced by Kat Dickson, who finished with 18 points. Alex Scarbro had 13 points and Rebekah Llorens chipped in with 11 points. Grayslake North got a team-high 6 points apiece from both Jordyn Bowen and Brianna Leon.
Mundelein got a game-high 16 points from Olivia Dunigan to top Huntley 46-44 in touranment play hosted by the Mustangs on Saturday.
Mundelein will face Hoffman Estates, a 50-19 winner against Grant, in championship bracket play Saturday.
Junior guard Amanda Davis scored 11 points for the Mustangs, who led 25-15 at the half.
Huntley was led by senior guard Megan Flynn with 11 points.
Libertyville 67, Belvidere 7: The Wildcats got 13 points from Olivia Wilcox in a first-round breeze against Belvidere in Mundelein tournament play. Libertyville will meet Streamwood in the second round of championship play Saturday.
Hoffman Estates 50, Grant 19: At the Mundelein Holiday Classic, Kassie Stimpson led Grant with 7 points, including a 3-pointer.
Rolling Meadows 42, Vernon Hills 37: At the Mundelein Holiday Classic, despite double-figures from Meri Bennett-Swanson (13 points) and Abby Springer (11 points), Vernon Hills wasn't able to push past Rolling Meadows.
