Scouting Northwest girls tennis/sectional tournaments

Sectionals are held at 32 sites throughout the state today and Saturday. The top four singles players and doubles teams from each sectional advance to the state tournament Oct. 21-23, hosted by Prospect.

Schaumburg sectional

Teams: Barrington, Elk Grove, Hoffman, Conant, Prospect, Fremd, Rolling Meadows, Lake Park and Schaumburg

Outlook: Barrington comes off its 16th straight Mid-Suburban League title with senior Kristy Dodge at singles and the doubles teams of Heather Ciskowski-Zoe Kasuriak and Kate Allison-Alia Nejdawi. “We expect different lineups from conference teams, said Barrington coach Tracy Waters-Miller said. “(We are) tapering down (and) still conditioning. Prospect's Maggie Partridge and Jackie Hertrich have teamed up at doubles for the sectional and Schaumburg's Monica Lin was the runnerup to Dodge in the MSL at No. 1 singles. Hoffman Estates freshman Courtney Lang and senior Amrutha Bahatt advanced to the MSL singles semifinals.

Stevenson sectional

Teams: Hersey, St. Viator, Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Lake Zurich, Stevenson, Palatine, Vernon Hills and Wauconda

Outlook: Nell Boyd leads a Buffalo Grove team that finished second in the MSL and has high aspirations for the sectional.

York sectional

Teams: Addison Trail, Fenton, York, Elmwood Park, Leyden, Proviso East, Walther Lutheran, Fenwick and Trinity.

Outlook: Leyden senior Kornelia Nowacyzk was seeded second in singles and the doubles team of Claire Neri/Adrianna Sanchez was seeded sixth. “Everyone feels confident and ready for sectionals, said Leyden coach Bob Smith.

Maine South sectional

Teams: Resurrection, Taft, Maine West, Glenbrook South, Glenbrook North, Maine East, Maine South, Niles North and Niles West

Outlook: Maine West coach Neal Sipkovsky has a young team but hopes a tough conference schedule was a good primer for the sectional.

Highland Park sectional

Teams: Highland Park, Woodlands Academy, Libertyville, Carmel, Mundelein, North Chicago, Waukegan and Wheeling
